How do we support Social Value?
Social value was first adopted in the UK following the Social Value Act which was published in 2012.

Special Branch Tree Services NE Ltd continue to build on our relations within the local community, engaging with local businesses, and use local supply chains (where possible). This places us in a strong position to understand the challenges faced by local communities and how our social value commitment can support to address these challenges.

Community Residents of Rothbury
The Weeping Ash have been cut down
This project brought an exciting opportunity to contribute to the changing landscape of Rothbury, one of Northumberland's most historic towns. The removal of two famous weeping ash trees, planted nearly 110 years ago and located in the heart of Rothbury, was a necessary decision due to their decline from ash dieback. To replace them, we decided to plant weeping willows (Salix Babylonica), which sparked a lot of interest from the village locals. Even Katie from Rothbury trees came out to assist in the planting of these new additions.
While there were mixed feelings about the decision to fell the historic giants, the locals understood that it's just the circle of life. In years to come, if you're passing by, pay attention to the right-hand side as you enter the village because two mighty, majestic weeping willows WILL stand strong for many years to come.

SHARKe
Supporting Biomass Material
Biomass energy, or energy made from plant and animal products, is a source of renewable energy. It reduces our reliance on fossil fuels (mainly oil, gas, and coal), preventing the release of carbon into the atmosphere from those nonrenewable resources. Biomass energy has the potential to be carbon neutral.

Special Branch Tree Services NE Ltd have partnered with SHARKe Ltd to ensure timber/chip waste from our completed projects is used to provide renewable energy.

St Michael's COE Primary School
Planting and Peebles
Before half term Henry anvisited St Michael's COE Primary School and planted a new tree with Year 3 & 4 pupils. d
We provided some beach Peebles and paint, for the children to design, paint and place under the tree.

Henry taught the children about the importance of trees, the discussion presented many interesting questions from the children!
The pupils thoroughly enjoyed the experience and learning what the trees job entails.
We'll look forward to seeing the tree grow over many years.
